Eve Imler, daughter of George Michael and Anna Imler married Adam/Henry
Earnest (there is some dispute as to his first name). They lived in Bedford
Twp along Dunnings Creek near Fort Bedford. In ca.Sept. 1777 the family was
attacked by Indians Mr. Earnest was killed and Mrs. Earnst was captured with
her youngest sons Michael and Henry (the others escaped into the woods) and
taken to Ft. Detroit. After 9 years she was able to make her way back home.
She then married Conrad Samuel (whose daughter was married to George Earnst,
her son). She was known in this area as Indian Eve. There is a marker
erected at the Messiah Church (Lutheran) in her honor.

I live near the Martinsburg (PA) Library that has an extensive genealogical
room that ahs several articles on Indian Eve that I would be happy to copy
for you if you are interested. The library also has the Liebegott
Collection of over 200 notebooks of family group sheets of families in this
area (these books have been microfilmed by the LDS).
