< Ferne, no he doesn't coincide with THAT John Lane but he does coincide with
MINE. The above Johannes Lehn was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
His wife was Margaret, and their daughter Elizabeth, born in 1736, married
Samuel Arnold, son of Elder John George Arnold of Frederick County, MD. The
family lived in Adams County, PA where they are buried at Mummerts Meeting
House.

Ferne, Thank you for the lookup! And to others who mailed me also :)
Joan,
I am (still) searching for the **correct** parents of my John Lane (Sr) b. abt
1780-1784 (where? date based on Obit age at death & apprentice record, below)
d. Dec 24, 1844 Washington Co PA. We have considered John LEHN of Adams/York
Cos, PA and FredCoMD as a possible father of our John Lane Sr. Possibly you
can help me prove or disprove a (possible) connection??

John Lane (Sr, b. 1780-1784) is found as apprentice to Martin GARVER (GARBER)
in 1794 at age 14 in FredCoMD "with no parents in this State" (eg MD), will be
age 15 Jan 1st 1795. Married Jan 23, 1805 to Catherine Baker Fred CoMD
Courthouse Record. Joseph Baker & Mary Baker (Meri Beckar) lived Libertytown
area until 1809; Lane and Baker moved together to Washington Co PA. (Lane &
Baker had been near Pipe Creek-- am now checking into records of Pipe Creek
and Beaver Dam churches.

This particular John Lane and Catherine Baker were **erroneously** listed as
the first child of Rev Soldier John Lane (also Sr) of Bedford Co PA (DAR app
of Emma McKinley Nease, 1927). I have documented proof that this DAR item is
wrong. (i.e. the Rev Soldier was John who had a son, John.... but I have a
different John Sr who also had a son John... so, there were 4 diff men
confused/combined down to 2 men)

However, (1) at least 3 family branches of John Lane Sr had descendants who
spoke of DAR eligibility. (2) A biographical history of a son of one branch
stated the ancestry was to a Rev War Soldier, and that (my) John Lane (Sr) had
distanced himself from his parents because they owned slaves.

We have questioned whether (your) John LEHN might have been my John's father??
We had one paid researcher in York/Adams who seemed to think the LEHN was our
ancestor. We would love to find proof --- even if the proof eliminates John
LEHN. I spent over 10 yrs researching and documenting the sources of every
listed fact for the one wrong DAR app :( so I'd rather know "sooner than
later" that this man is/isn't ours.

Can you shed any light on what you know of the LEHN family and the children?
Especially after the LEHN family leaves FredCoMD? Also do you have any info
on a Phillip (SLICK or SLACK? I can't remember without my notes!) who married
the widow LEHN?

Thank you for your help!
