Hi,

Sorry this is so long but I think I can give you more than a "nudge"! We do
not live too far from Germany Valley and this is from my husband's line.
Tom's great great grandparents were John Garver, son of John and Sarah (Eby)
Garver and Christianna Bowman, daughter of Samuel and Susannah (Rohrer)
Bowman. Now Susanna (Rohrer) Bowman's brother, Jacob Ro(h)rer , married
Susanna Garver, daughter of John and Sarah (Eby) Garver. Also Susanna
(Rohrer) Bowman's other brother, Abram Rohrer, married Mary Garver, another
daughter of John and Sarah (Eby) Garver.

JACOB ROHRER, s/o Samuel and Margaret Rohrer, born ca. 29 Jan 1831, died 26
July 1858 of apoplexy (disease of the heart), married 20 Dec. 1849, to
SUSANNA GARVER, d/o John and Sarah (Eby) Garver, born 13 Aug 1831, died 18
July 1894. After Jacob's death she married Peter Ripple. Jacob and Susanna
were members of the COB and are buried in Germany Valley, headstones are there.

CHILDREN of JACOB and SUSANNA (GARVER) ROHRER:
1. Martin, b. 22 Nov 1850
2. Cynthia Ellen, born 21 Sept 1852, died 10 Jan 1935, married Samuel C.
Middagh. They had a daughter, Annie, who married in 1927 David Porter
Bowman (his second marriage).
3. John, born 7 Oct 1854, died 12 Oct 1923, not married, died from a fall
from an apple tree
4. Mary Ann, born 19 Aug 1856,married Jacob Conrad
5. JACOB ALBERT, born 13 Nov 1858 in Germany Valley, died 4 Aug 1943,
married ANNIE CATHERINE GLOCK. She was the d/o Rev. John G and Mary Ann
(Bashore) Glock, born 6 Aug 1861 in Aughwick Valley, died 18 June 1948 in
Mt. Union. For a time the family lived in Altoona--son John was born there
in 1880.

CHILDREN of JACOB ALBERT and ANNIE (GLOCK) ROHRER:
1. Myra P., born 23 Feb 1881, married William R. Moyer
2. John G., born 7 Nov 1882, married Mary Taylor
3. Mary M., born 26 Apr 1885, not married
4. Edna A., born 6 Dec 1887, marrried Remick Palmer
5. Ella Grace, born 16 Jan 1890, died 27 Mar 1974, married William M. Kurtz

Jacob was a member of the Sugar Run COB and Annie was a member of the
Aughwick COB and they are both buried at the Germany Valley
cemetery--tombstones are there.

Note of interest: in 1870 census of Shirleysburg, Albert Rohrer was living
with John and Sarah (Eby) Garver and in 1860, Mary A. Rohrer was living with
them.

Tom and I have walked the Stone Church/Aughwick/Germany Valley cemetery many
times since he has so many relatives buried there. This church is the
oldest church building in the district (1836). From "Out of the Wilderness"
by Earl C. Kaylor: "By the early seventies Aughwick's membership exceeded
two hundred. However the greater part of the congregation no longer lived
in Germany Valley but in the Hill Valley area. Thus the matter of putting up
a church in Hill Valley was discussed.........new meetinghouse was given the
name Sugar Run."

I have census records, newspaper stuff, etc, plus further information on the
Garver, Eby, Rohrer lines back if you are interested...email me and I will
be glad to share this information.

Joanne
