I am looking for more information on my husband's g-g-grandparents. The
family information that we have follows:
Johanne Stalder b. Switzerland [probably], probably 1838 or
before d. Oregon
m. Switzerland [probably Berne]
"A. M." b. Switzerland [probably Berne], abt.
1838-1839 d. Oregon
children: Mary, Elizabeth, Lydia, Henry, John, Martha,
Margueretta [b. Berne, Switzerland, 11/01/1862]
Paul, Jacob, Anna/Annie
For their 50th Anniversary, A. M. wrote a brief story of her life-
unfortunately, she gave no names or places other than Switzerland and
Bethany, and few dates. A. M.'s mother was a poor widow who supported
her children by teaching sewing and handwork in the public school,
probably in Berne. In the winter of 1876, "Brother Siegenthaler" offered
to pay for several members of their church, along with their families,
to emmigrate to America with him. They arrived in Bethany, Oregon, in
1876. They probably attended Bethany Baptist Church, a German Baptist
church, where their grandchildren were raised.

Thnak-you for looking into this for
us. Bonnie
