You are absolutely correct Merle and I apologize to all for my synapse
lapse! I was confusing Alexander Mack and Martin Urner. While Peter
Becker was the first Brethren Minister in America, arriving in 1719 and
beginning the Church here (in Germantown in 1723 or 24) he quickly became
second to Alexander Mack when Mack arrived from Europe somewhat later. I
believe Alexander Mack may have baptized Peter Becker in Germany. In that
first Brethren meeting at Peter Becker's home in Germantown, 1723 or 24, he
baptized Martin Urner who then went on to develop the Coventry (Chester
Cty, Pa) Brethren Church---which became the most significant Brethren
Church in America at that time. And a seed church for other regions of
Pennsylvania and Virginia. Ray
