There are marvelous Web resources to answer questions such as this.
You can surf Switzerland by going to www.yoodle.ch
At www.gov.ch/CantonE.HTM one finds a listing of the 26 Swiss Cantons, year
founded, abbreviations. official language, main city, etc.
Also at www.about.ch/cantons
Go to http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/CH/history.html for "Everything You
Always Wanted to Know About Swiss History, But Were Afraid to Ask."
This is just a small sampling of available helpful Swiss websites for maps,
history, tourist info, commerce, geneaology. Internet search engines will
find dozens more. The Cantons & cities in Switzerland have their own
websites. Don't forget...the WWW was created not too long ago by a scientist
in Switzerland <g>.
