I have had responses from Annette DeHoff , suggesting that
I look in the Wendell Bauman family for my ancestors and
from Brian Balsbaugh, who correctly stated that his grgrgrgr
grandmother is my grgrgraunt, or something like that. I am
considering all potential Christian Bowman ancestors, and
there are many. I have ask for a copy of Emmert Bittinger's
article on the descendents of Wendell Bauman/Bowman
that was published in Mennonite Family History, recently.
They were in Miami County Indiana in the year 1860.
I have not done much searching in Indiana yet, but I did
find an Anna #156, Daniel #156, and John H. #157, all
in Richland Twp., and all B421(soundex no., I think).
I haven't sent for the census yet, but I will tomorrow.
I don't know where David was, perhaps riding circuit.
Since attatchments are not allowed, I will type the
contents of a biography about Christian, b. 1792,
that was contained within a biography about a grandson.
This was printed within "The Biographical Anals of
Cumberland County"
Christian Bowman was born and reared in Lancaster
County, where he was a farmer at the time of his
marriage with Mary Mohler. After his marriage he
settled for a time near Boiling Springs, Cumberland
county and engaged in lime burning and the grain
business, but in 1827 he bought a farm in East
Pennsboro township on which he lived for several
years, then purchasing another on the Jonestown road,
near Harrisburg. At a still later date he removed to
Miami county Ind., where he died at the age of 92 years.
His wife had died on the farm near Harrisburg, at the
age of sixty years[66]. The children of Christian and Mary
(Mohler) Bowman were: Mary married John Longenecker,
who was a farmer in East Pennsboro township until 1856,
when they removed to Randolph county Ind., where she
died at eighty-six years; John [my grgrgrandfather]who
married Kate Longenecker, John died at age twenty-nine,
leaving three sons[John William,Benjamin F. and
Christian L.]; Samuel, married Susan Koons, they
were parents of Dr. John W. Bowman; Anna, married
Rev. David Balsbaugh, and they lived in East Pennsboro
until 1856, then moving to Miami county Ind., where he
became a noted preacher; Christian, married Elizabeth
Brightbill, and they lived in Dauphin county, where he was
steward of the Dauphin County Home."
There are also Bios. for Christian and Samuel (mentioned
above) Christians son William and Samuels son Dr. John W..
I would be interested in any information anyone has on this family.

In 1870 they lived at Deerfield, Steele Co., MN. Apparently Jefferson died sometime between 1870 and 1880. In 1880 Elinor is found living with her son Richard and family in Rice Co. MN. She was still in Rice Co. in 1900.
