In the "Douglas County, Kansas, Family Histories 1991-1992, Vol. 1 p. 335
the following appears:

"Christopher MARKLEY was born in Germany Dec. 10, 1745. It is not known when
he came to this country, nor exactly where he was prior to moving to near
Martinsburg, Pa.,. in what is known asr Morrison's Cove, a large lovely
valley between the Dunning and Lock Mountains on the west and Tussey's
mountain on the east, north of Bedford Pa. Christopher married Christina
Ulrich (b. April 8, 1756: d. Sept. 30, 1823), daughter of Daniel Ulrich
(Ullery). Christoper died April 6, 1819. They are both buried in East
Nimishillen Church Cemetery and were members of the Germany Baptist Church.
They had nine children, all of whom moved to Ohio with them. During his
early days in this country his name was spelled various ways, mostly as
Merkle or Markle."

One of these children was Jacob Markley b. Dec. 16, 1799 near Martinsburg,
Pa. He died August 8, 1881 and is buried in North Webster, Ind. He married
Christina Howell on May 11, 1826 by John Hoover, Justice of the peace and
