I have a gguncle named Mayberry Gates b 1860. I thought that was a strange first name. Is it a surname or does this name ring a bell for anyone?

Hi, Merle! I read your post below as I saw the name HOUSER and Antietam,Md.
I have a ggggrandparent who was married to Justinian Mayberry of Frederick,
Md.
Justinian married Mary Ann Houser @1792. They had several children listed
on her
will in 1855. I have a copy if you want a copy, let me know. Frank
Mayberry
I would like to have any info that you can spare on these names.

| Can you give me more information on this Nancy Houser and her family? You
say
| George Bowman lived in Pennsylvania -do you know where?
|
| I have an Elder Abraham Houser who moved from Jessaimine Co KY to Clermont
Co OH
| soon after 1800. His daughter Nancy married Joel Hoover, of Clermont Co.
They
| lived in the Bullskin just off the Ohio River at Utopia.
|
| The family had moved from the Antietam (Md) to Jessamine Co Ky with the
Rohrers
| of Rohrersville MD and there was intermarriage with them.
| The church was on Short Creek -just east of Wilmore KY. Jacob Rohrer was
Elder
| and took the church into the Methodists when the Brethren Elders from
Annual
| Meeting objected to his being in the Great Revival of Kentucky. I have
stories
| on Elder Jacob Rohrer and Elder Abraham Houser in a paper at:
| <www.cob.org/docs/brethrenlife.htm> under "Brethren Frontiers" named
"Brethren
| Pietism" and "Frontier Life".
