Gale,
Thanks for the marriage entry (below) from Vogt and Kethley. It establishes
a new fact to me, i.e., that Susannah Crist's guardian was her
brother-in-law Michael Frantz who was married to her oldest sister Elizabeth
Crist. Susannah Crist was just under 20 years old when she married Michael
Click, so she would have needed her guardian's permission. Her father,
Jacob Crist, had died in 1805 when she was but two years old. Her mother,
Margaret Höh, was left with four minor children and never remarried. It is
my understanding that the Crists moved from Augusta County, VA, to Botetourt
County sometime after 1810 and that the children lived in homes with other
Brethren families in the Botetourt County area until they married. After
that, they all moved to Clark County, Ohio.
