Hello,

Researching Nicholas MARKEY, who lived in Pennsylvania (where the name is
sometimes spelled MERKEY), married Barbara (GEBHARDT) of the Little
Swatara/Tulpehocken area in what is now Berks County, PA (then Lancaster Co.) in 1772, and
moved about 1795 to the Roanoke County area of what was then Botetourt County,
VA, where he was on tax lists until 1824.

I have read that the MARKEY/MERKEY family were members of the Brethren church
at Little Swatara and would very much like more concrete information about
the family in the pre-1800 era.

On 1810 Federal Census of Botetourt County, Virginia:
MARKEY, Nichos. 0-0-1-0-1--0-1-3-0-1
(One male at least 16, under 26; one male 45 or older; one female at least
10, under 16; three females at least 16, under 26; one female 45 or older.)

I am most interested in who his and Barbara's parents/ancestors were, and in
a complete list of his children and grandchildren. I have much raw data which
I am trying to sort out, to determine with certainty which children belong to
him.

Rather than make a very lengthy post here, I hope that those who recognize
this family will visit my threaded post with documentation about this MARKEY
family at genforum or ancestry.com (rootsweb), MARKEY message board, beginning
with this post:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/markey/messages/244.html
or
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/surnames.markey/164

(Same thread both sites.)

Thanks in advance!
J Erickson
