Good morning, Ora...thanks for keeping me abreast of your magnificent
progress regarding further preservation of so many of Somerset Co.,PA's early
records. You continue to amaze with the scope of this marvelous genealogical
enterprise you have undertaken and your continued dedication for us all.
By mere happenstance I came across a website which you may not have
encountered heretofore, but which gives access to so much early church history I am
sharing it with you and others. And...must have been tuned in...for it was just
updated yesterday!
This is THE PRIMITIVE BAPTIST LIBRARY OF CARTHAGE, ILLINOIS which maintains
a list of all the churches of that denomination in some thirty states and also
the British Isles.
I was particularly interested since my ancestor, Jesse King (who mar. Mary
Rugg), is listed on the roster of the members of the Primitive Church of New
Lexington, Perry Co., OH...along with other members, many of whom also came there
from the Turkeyfoot (Twp) Church in Somerset Co. PA. I was able to read
again about the early formation of that "Jersey Church", of Somerset Co., PA (and
the names of its eighteen charter members who had migrated there from NJ),
and found more to add to the family lore.
You can reach this site yourself by going to:

Hope you find something of interest therein!
