George Rummel -married Elizabeth Besore, was son of George Rummel, who
in 1778 moved from Lancaster Co PA to Staban twp, Adams Co PA. I am
descended from Peter Rummel, George's brother who moved to the Ohio/Penn
state line -about 1810. A number of the Brothers and Sisters came to
that area (near New Middletown OH). Since all these Rummels were
Lutheran, I suspect that they were Lutheran back at Gettysburg. The
John Rummel farm was the Cavalry Field of the Gettysburg Battlefield
(I've been there -northeast of Gettysburg on the Hannover Road). It is
recorded that he bought the farm in 1840, but I wouldn't be surprised
that it might be the originaly family farm, through Jacob Rummel, who
stayed at Gettysburg with a couple sisters who married locally. There
is quite a story about the John Rummel family during the battle at their
house -Stuart (confederate) and Greg (union).

I personally lost track of your George/Elizabeth at Zollinger PA (near
Waynesboro) in the 1800 Census. It seems most of the children moved to
the Zollinger area, before many of them moved on to the Beaver Valley
and the Ohio line. The "Rummel Rooters" (internet site on our family)
has only a limited listing of your George and descendents

I had Mary Rummel/Philip Snell in Franklin Co PA -and Rummel Rooters had
nothing on the family.

I'll be glad to exchange information with you.
