From another member of Black Rock who is descended from the Miller family:
(This traces a little of the history of some present day Millers at Black
Rock.)
On p. 28 of the Gleim book, "On Dec. 3, 1740, Andrew Miller (1716 - )
arrived in America aboard the ship Samuel. A son of the original Andrew Miller was
also named Andrew (1745-1776) of "Catorus Township". (Codorus) "Andrew's will
was filed in court on Jan. 3, 1777 ... One of the children, Andrew, Jr.
(1762-Oct. 12, 1835). On p. 77 "Andrew Miller became an exhorter for the Little
Conewago congregation (later Upper Codorus, & later Black Rock...) On Oct. 29,
1785, he married Anna Danner (May 6, 1768-Dec. 23, 1808) the daughter of
Henry and Elizabeth Kehr Danner. One child of Andrew and Anna was Samuel D (Sept.
20, 1793 - May 18, 1870) who married Sarah Bucher (Jan. 17, 1797 - May 2,
1869)" "Anna Danner Miller was buried in Roth's church cemetery (near Spring
Grove, PA).
Samuel D. and his wife Sarah are my great, great grandparents and are buried
in Price's cemetery -now Carroll Co., MD. Was Baltimore Co. before Carroll
Co. was founded. One of their children was Sarah Miller who married Jacob
Buser (buried in Price's cemetery). Sarah later married a Sellers. Her tomb
stone is placed first in the first row of markers at Black Rock - though she was
not the first person to be buried there. Sarah's only surviving daughter was
Lydia who married Aaron Sweitzer Baugher and these are my maternal
grandparents. My mother, Sarah Lettie (a k a Lettie Sarah) was one of 13 children who
married Luther Hoover. Many of the Andrew Miller family married members of the
Hoover family (York Co., PA). Therefore there are many Miller cousins on both
sides of my family!
There were many, many decendents of Elder Andew Miller, who were members of
Upper Codorus in York, Co., PA - for many years.
A historian of the Miller family, Jacob Miller of Lake Road in Spring Grove,
York Co., has done extensive research on the Miller families. He and his
wife, Arlene, live in a beautifully, restored home that was once used for church
services.
