Hello Wayne, yes we discussed the coincidences in which the paths of Rev.
Christopher Geise and the Gish family of southern Va. crossed, although I am
not sure it was in the same time frame. However, I still strongly hold to
the belief that they were two different men, and descendants of two
different immigrants.
Incidentally, It was the Geise (not Gish) that is found in the land
records of Rockingham County, just to the south of Peaked Mountain (now
known as Massanutten Peake, probably somewhere east of Harrisonburg.
Evening Emmert,
Makes me wonder if the deed record you have could have been for the
Historical Christopher. It would take a search into the history of the tract,
before and after the sale, to determine which person it may have been. If it was
the Historical Christopher then that could opne a whole kettle of fish.
Yes there were two Christophers and it is a coincidence that they keep
showing up i nthe same areas at about the same time, or near to it anyways.
I'll have to see what might be said in the court records of Bedford on my
next trip. I do not hold out much hope as Historical Christopher was before
the formation but you never know.
