Tom,
I would not be surprised if they weren't descended from William Brewer, whom I understand settled here in Coffee from Warren County. I think William was a son of Russell Brewer?? I believe old Russell Brewer and his wife Nancy Toliver Brewer to be kin to me in some fashion.

There also seems to be several Calvin C. Brewers. Two at least. One was killed during the Civil War near Viola or Vervilla and was a Confederate Captain. The other was also a Confederate Captain who survived the war and lived here in Coffee, and for whom the "Calvin C. Brewer, United Daughters of the Confederacy" is named.
