Subject: [B&D] Using the Rootsweb Search Engine to find family historyinformation

Hi Listers,
I get lots of off-list requests concerning rootsweb messages I have posted
over the years, which are in the rootsweb archives and which researchers
pick up whilst Googling for their family names.
This morning I had a request about a Bristol family so I suggested that the
researcher should to the Rootsweb Search Engine
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search
and put in in the space marked body the name of the family being researched
and the place. Both words need to be put in double quotation marks.
For example putting in my own family as
"Veater""Cameley"
I get 165 matches. If I click on each numbered message I get the rest of
the correspondence on that thread.
I know that most of you know this already, but it took me some time to find
out how to do it and there may well be new members out there who don't know
the process and who may well find extra information by searching the
rootsweb archives in this way.
