Hi Charani
There were only two copies made - the LDS filmed the index books then the GRO microfiched them. So
if you are looking at films (much harder work) then it is the earlier copy. Sadly both copies have
many pages which were missed in the filming process.

I'd always been lead to believe there are/were five copies of the
indices, one of which had been filmed and that film was used to
produce the fiche in libraries and record offices etc.
Those old handwritten books were lovely, but so heavy.
