Ouch , yes those nails had a habit of turning up at the most
inconvenient time!
I used to listen with envy, to my mother's tales of her childhood
Halloweens in Winnipeg. However, in my humble opinion, Bonfire night was
just as much fun. Do they still collect "a penny for the guy", or is
that not "correct" these days?
It was nearly always raining on Nov. 5th, but it never dampened our
spirits. I remember the "rockets" that fired over the houses, and never
a thought was given to the danger of fires. Chestnuts, baked potatoes,
treacle toffee,....yes, I'll take Guy Fawkes Day as we celebrated it,
any day over Haloween!....Pat
