If you know where Col. Joseph Buffington Darville came from, then a search
on the www.history.uk.com database (completely free of charge) will give you
contact details for lots of sources of information such as museums,
libraries, record offices and archives in that area.

Even better, if you know which regiment he was with then you may be able to
find the appropriate military museum that holds his service record and clues
to his origins. Most regimental museums are listed.

Could someone please tell me or maybe help me find info in England, on Col.
Joseph Buffington Darville who came to America abt. 1800. His daughter
married Wm. Thompson. When Col. Darville arrived in this country he settled
on ??sp Tummichaten Creek in Dinwiddie Co., VA.. He also erected a very
fine home in Dinwiddie Co., VA., called Darvills.
