Hi
I am wondering this as well.....
I'm assuming that a person would have more luck finding out about a 'war
baby' if they knew the mother's name......I'm in the same situation as
Wayne......my great-uncle, met a woman overseas and got her pregnant while
he was fighting in WWII.
My great-uncle, Joseph Colin Barron (b.1917 in Scotland) was a Canadian
soldier with the 48th Highlanders of Canada. He was married at the time, and
when he came back home from the war (abandoning his girlfriend and child)
I'm assuming he told his wife or she found out some other way, but they were
divorced soon afterwards (she had also been having an affair while he was
away).
I sometimes wonder about his child overseas, as this child would be my dad's
cousin. I'm assuming there's probably no way of finding out anything about
the child since I don't have the name of the mother.
