I have just noticed that one of my ancestors, Isaac Lesser, died 19 Jun
1878 at "The Lodge Jewish Burial Ground" as given on his death
certificate. His occupation was given as "market overseer" so he
probably wasn't the lodgekeeper. What was "The Lodge" and why would
someone fortuitously happen to die there? Did people go there to be
watched over while dying? The informant doesn't give any clue - it was
J. Lewis, 17 Cobbs Yard, Spitalfields - not a name I recognize at all
and not a relative so far as I know. Has anyone else had anyone die at
"The Lodge Jewish Burial Ground"?
Jocelyn
