Hello all,

I've been sitting low the past few weeks but I wanted to share my news
with everyone. In Feb./Mar I sent out a message about Thomas HODGES and
Elizabeth ISAAC who married Mar 1888 in Pontypridd,South Wales. I was
told by family members that my great grand mother was Jewish?
When I first wrote to this list I was told that she most likely was not
because it was very rare for this marriage mix have taken place? And also
due to the fact that she had a Christen name?
I want to let you know that last week I have come in contact with a new
found cousin who lives in Kent,England. You see I found her on the
rootsweb name message board. She is a CANN. Her grandmother was Browen
CANN nee HODGES.Browen CANN nee HODGES was my grand father's Lancelot
HODGES ( who on his marriage cert. says that he was a Baptist but I
never saw him set foot in church?)older sister, and a daughter of Thomas
and Elizabeth HODGES. Browen married Julius CANN.His named was changes
from either KHAN/COHN?He was said to have came to Wales from Russia in
1904.Julius CANN was Jewish and was a watch maker.Browen ran a fish and
chips shop.My cousins said that they ran a khoser household.Julius and
Browen CANN had two sons Marcus and Leopold CANN.Marcus turned away from
the Jewish faith but Leopold did not.Leopold CANN moved to the United
States where he had 4 children.

So with learning this new bit of information it now looks to me more and
more that my great grand mother was Jewish?

Please let me know what you all think in this matter?
And can anyone look up and see what they can find on Julius and Browen
CANN?

Thanks gang!

Cheers,
Lynn-Marie Hodges (^..^)~
