Seen on another mailing list which I thought might be of interest:

The Jewish Chronicle has digitised all its editions from 1841 to 2006, and
it is now possible to do free trial searches for relevant articles.

However, you do need to subscribe to the JC in order to view & download the
full articles. For further details go to http://www.thejc.com and click on
the blue box with the text "The JC Archives".
