Dear Listers
Have just stumbled across an amazing research resource for those of you who
had family who ended up in Victoria, Australia.
In 1891 a group of women went around Melbourne and Victoria getting
signatures for a petition to present to the Parliament of Victoria saying
women should have the vote. Names and addresses can be researched on line
for free and copies of signatures downloaded for free. Following a quick
glance there are women with the surnames MARKS, COHEN, LEVY and BARNETT
there plus one by the name of KEYZOR which has opened up a whole new line of
research for me.
The site is http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/petitions/women.asp
