Hi,
Morris Block is shown on the U.K. 1881 census as living at 7 Little
Paternoster Row, Spitalfields, Whitechapel, London aged 40 & from
Poland--occupation - a Glazier. Wifes name is SARAH aged 30 also from
Poland. Daughter-Annie aged 3 ( my grandmother) -son -abraham aged 2 & son
Lazarus--3 days old.
There is no record of them on the 1871 census.
On the 1891 census Morris is now aged 50 & living at 13 Chapel Rd,
Llangattock, Crickhowell. His wifes name is now Leah born in Poland in about
1846 ( really ANNIE LEAH) daughter Annie now aged 15, son Abraham now aged
14 ( mothers name is Leah), Lazarus now aged 11 , daughter Rosy aged 7 &
daughter Rachel aged 4.
On the 1901 census there is no record of Morris so I assume he died ( maybe
in Swansea in 1893). Annie Leah is now recorded as being age 56. My
grandmother ANNIE had now married in 1898 & became Annie Struel. On her
marriage certificate it states her fathers name was LAZARUS but maybe this
was her brother???
Irving Struel
