Hello Ellen,
My first question to you would be where you got your information about your
father and his mother. Then I would build on that.
I didn't know my father's birth name until he was dead and I spent a year
seeking information about a false name. My father thought his name was given
at birth but it was given to him when he entered the orphanage and had no
connection to his birth name.
There are so many variables and stories. It's like unravelling a mystery and
trying to make the pieces fit.

Barb

> Hi someone mentioned that I should put the information I seek on the
roots" List", I don't seem to have a e mail address for them or a web
site..Any information?
> Thank you for your replies Angus you always respond I think its great, and
Frank. I have gotten touch with the pacific web site here in B.C., and they
have mentioned a person who has done strictly research on the Carr name. To
those who are interested in helping I have written to Bernado after Care,
Salvation Army,Father Hudson Society,University of Liverpool, Middlemore
homes,Catholic children's society,Child migrants Trust, all have met with
negative response. My Father came to Canada on a ship of the White star
Lines the Cedric in 1928, it docked in Nova Scotia. He went from there to
some place on the prairies to work on a farm(Unknown).
> His Mother, Mary Carr remained in England as they were separated when he
was young and I have come to believe that she had my father out of wedlock
and placed him in a home in England. Mary changed her name in later years to
Mary St. George I have been told. I know nothing of this person only that
she passed away in the late 1950's or early 1960's. My father never spoke of
her and since I have begun may search for his roots I can find nothing on
her either. I didn't know I had a grandmother in England. I hope this helps
for whomever wanted to help me.
> Thanks in advance, Ellen
