Hello;

I am wondering if anyone would have any information about Edward Smart;
or about which group might have sent children on the SS Sarnia from
Liverpool in 1892. In searching the National Archives sight, I have
found an Edward Smart, age not recorded, who sailed on the SS Sarnia,
leaving Liverpool the 1st of April 1892 and arriving in Halifax on the
10th of April.

It does not mention which group or home these children were with, but
does record the destination as Belleville.

I have just begun to suspect that my husband's grandfather may have come
to Canada as a home child, but am uncertain how to get further info to
find out if this Edward is "our" Edward.

My grandfather came from Britain as an "outsider" with Barnardos in
1904, so I have some experience with that organization, but know little
about the other organizations that sent home children.

Any help in knowing which organization to contact regarding this
particular group of children (i.e. those that sailed on the SS Sarnia
April 1892) would be most appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your help;
Gloria
