Dear BHC readers,
I thought you would be interested to know about the new Barnardo Museum.
This new Heritage Center will be located in 3 of the cottages at the girls
Village in Barkingside, Essex. One will be returned to it's original 1905
state as a children's home. The others will house the rest of the
collection. The collection provides records and photos of every child who
entered the charities care in leather bound-ledgers in which the original
circumstances are written in detail. This is very surprising to me, since
Barnardos has often refused to give me any more personal information about my
grandparent's other siblings. I was told the reason was because I wasn't the
closest living relative. Now it seems everyone can read it. The museum is
expected to be opened by 2005. I was given this information from a relative
who lives in the Isle of Wight. The article appeared last week in The Times,
Saturday edition newspaper.
Best wishes,
Loretta Frost - Hamburg
