I too purchased some snowflakes to be worn in remembrance of my Great Uncle
who was sent to Winnipeg in 1906 from the Children Aid's society..
I was able to purchase a card of small snowflakes from a company and was
able to share some of them with a cousin who's mother, aunt and uncle who were
also sent to Canada with Barnardos. They were small in silver and gold..
Unfortunately this year they are not carrying the tiny snowflake pins and
wish that I had bought more last year.I wear my pin everyday and people have
asked about the snowflake and I have been able to tell them of the British Home
Children..and how I am looking for my great uncle and his descendants..
The snowflakes were a great reminder of those children lost from their
families and sent to Canada and beyond..I do not know who started using the
snowflake to bring to mind our British Home Children but I liked it and am keeping it
going .
