Hello all.

The British Newspaper Library at Colingdale in London, has a vast collection of local newspapers from all over the country. A very useful source of information if you've found a "black hole" in your family's history!
Try for more information.
Difficult to search from Canada, I know, but if you have some idea of the area and time your black hole occurs in, local newspapers may be the last resort. The National Archives at Kew hold much information, but if you can't find what you're looking for there, try the Newspaper Library.
I found a report concerning my grandfather's trial in the East Sussex papers, that I couldn't find in the Calenders of Prisoners at Kew, because the years I was interested in were "wanting" at Kew.
Unfortunately, few local papers at Colindale have been "digitised" so far, but work is in progress, and it is to be hoped this will make things much easier.

Phil White.
