There is a series of volumes called "Settlers of the Beekman Patent -
Dutchess County, New York". They are fairly recently published and include
all kinds of information useful for genealogists: tax records, school
records, marriage records, deeds, etc., etc. . . . . . I think these books
can be found in most genealogy libraries now.

I've also found good information about my Dutchess County BROWNS in Sharon,
Litchfield County, Connecticut records. Families and communities seemed to
straddle that state line.

We had no William BROWNS in my line so I know that your line is not the
same as mine. So far as I can tell there were several unrelated BROWN
families in the region.
