I just came across some notes that I made years ago that might be helpful
to someone on this List. This is from "Landmarks of Rensselaer County, New
York" by George Baker Anderson and published in 1897. On page 50 is a
biographical sketch of Spencer C. BROWN b. 26 Mar 1833 in Stephentown,
Rensselaer County.

He was the son of Joseph R. Brown b. ca 1800 in Connecticut and Amanda M.
Carr b. in Columbia County, New York. Amanda's parents were Spencer Carr
and Zelpha Goodrice. Joseph's parents were Adam Brown and Susanna Morey who
came from Stonington, Connecticut in 1802.

In 'Burials at Stephentown, NY' printed in NEHGR 73:208 (1919) there is a
list of BROWNS that includes:

Adam Brown died July 27, 1845, aged 72
Amanda M. Carr, wife [of] Joseph ]?Brown], born Apr. 5, 1805, died Aug. 17,
1874
Joseph R. Brown died May 9, 1851, aged 50
Susannah, wife of Adam Brow, died May 4, 1852, aged 72

Spencer does not seem to be buried in this cemetery but there is one stone:
Mary, daughter of Spencer & Anna Brown, died Feb 25, 1877, aged 2 years
and 9 months.

This is not my Brown family and I am posting these notes for possible
interest by someone else.
