Hello list, While tracing my Smith family I have learned that my first
great grandfather Samuel Fair Smith (maternal grandmother's father) had
siblings Frances, Jane, and Sarah who are listed on the 1870 NY census
for Westchester County, part Eastchester Township, Mount Vernon. In the
obituary for him printed in the Mount Vernon (Westchester County) Argus
dated February 11, 1920 it shows that he died unexpectedly of Pulmonary
Tuberculosis at the home of his brother in law George (H.) Brown while
visiting in Chicago, Illinois on 4 February 1920. I do not know which
one of his sisters George married however I believe that his marriage
took place about 1885 before Mount Vernon incorporated from Eastchester
Township as the coroner's report lists his place to be interred as
Eastchester. I am hoping that some of you can help further my search.
I have found that the Smith's parents were David and Margaret (Young)
Smith and they were both born in Ireland. I hope this makes some sense
to at least one of you on this list. Thanks in advance! I am sending
this message to both the general Brown-l and Brown-ny-l lists.
