I am l;ooking for the parents and siblings of Peter Brown who was born in Scotland around 1792-94. On the grave stone, in Tenn.,it says that he was about 44 years old, and the date of his death is Aug.1837.

The marker also says he was from Ayrshire, but I have found nothing more that seems to fit, as I have searched Ayrshire files. His heirs are listed as John G. Brown, Laura Brown, Malvina D. Brown, Melivna E. Brown , William P. Brown, Charles F. Brown and Elenora, as well as his wife, Sarah Ann Brown(Foster).

According to the records from the Chauncery Court Minutes he came to America in 1811 and was accepted as a citizen in 1826, when he was living in Greene County Tenn.

I have a couple of possiblilites, that I have found so far. One is a Peter Brown born to Alexander Brown in Stewarton ,Ayrshire, around 1792 -3. (I have seen it listed as both dates.)

The other is a Peter Brown born to a William Brown in Midlothian, Invereske, in 1794. This second Peter has as his father, William Brown and his mother Helen/Elenor Dickison. Those two names, William and Elenora appear in Peter's children's names. Also his partner in business in Tenn. was a John Dickson, who was emigrated from Ireland in 1818.

Does anyone have information of a later date on Peter from Stewarton or Peter from Midlothian?
I would like to know if either of these families went to Ireland in the early 1800's and could possibly have gone on to America.

Thank you so much.

Judy Brown
