Subject: Brown in Kentucky, perhaps Tenn, and Va.

Greetings,
I have been stuck for some time getting beyond Patrick Henry Calhoun Brown
June 18, 1836 in Caldwell County, Kentucky died April 3, 1911 and buried in
the Rowland Cemetary with his wife Nancy Jane Guess Sep 26, 1835 - Aug 19,
1896. We have the entire family history of the descendents. We believe his
father was Leonard L Brown born about 1782 possibly in North Carolina and
migrated thru Tennessee (staying there awhile) and then Kentucky. This same
Leonard Brown married the duaghter of Justinian Carl Cartwright of Virginia a
well documented revolutionary war soldier. Her name was Sallie or Sarah
Cartwright. Nancy Jane Guess' mother was Celia Sue Stewart. PHC Brown is
mentioned prominently in a well documented book of the area called "The
History Of Caldwell County" Kentucky. If you can help please feel free to
reply.
Another search involves:
William Fountain Montgomery b:1841-1891. This family settled in the part
of Hopkins County Kentucky that barely crosses the road between Webster and
Caldwell County along the Tradewater River. Nearly all of his children are
buried
either in the cemetary located by Government Loop, Woodlane road or in Big
Hill or Shady Grove cemetary. I think this might be the Traylor or Barnhill
cemetary mentioned as being in volume 5. Other children are in the Shady
Grove cemetary or Big Hill Cemetary among others.
We have never found William Fountain's grave or information about him;
though it is known he was married to Fannie Carie Simpson (b:
7/15/1860-1/29/1942) married to Wm in 1878. Her father was Dr. Vincent
Simpson. Fannie is buried in Shady Grove Ky..
We believe William F. Montgomery is the brother of Mary Montgomery (married
to John H Davis), Richard Montgomery killed near Covington Ky in Civil War,
Martha Jo Montgomery (married to Richen Price and later to James R Johnson),
John Montgomery 1828-1908 Big Hill Cemetary, Thomas Givens Montgomery (Big
Hill Cemetary), Samuel Montgomery (b: abt. 1837), Lewis Montgomery , b: abt.
1839 killed in Civil War in Missouri, Ella Montgomery b. abt. 1843, Sarah
Francis Montgomery (1845-1911). Their father would then be Samuel Montgomery
1796-1863 married to Rebecca Brown Given.
We have traced these ancestors back to James Montgomery of Donegal Ireland
b: 1690 who came to this county with Calhoun's and Crockett's in 1733. His
son's we know of are: Robert Montgomery b: 1717, Samuel Montgomery b: 1721,
William Montgomery b: 1723, John b: 1725, James b: 1729, and Joseph b: 1733
in Pennsylvania just before they all moved to Virginia.
Could please use some leads to track down William Fountain Montgomery's
parents and other family members in Ireland and Scotland. Also researching
Brown, Blackburn, Coleman, Ray and others attached to our tree.
Thanks,
Mike Montgomery
