Hello again, (again) fellow Brown searchers;

START OF PART 2 OF 2

(The Brown/Chestnut line branches off at this point, with Mary "Polly"
Gilbert and Daniel Brown.)
(For anyone that may have an interest in Sarah and Solomon, I have included
that branch at the end.)

*44. Mary "Polly" Gilbert, daughter of Elijah Gilbert and Mary Dunbar,
born 1778, at Brookfield, Massachusetts; died 26 or 28 October, 1819. at
Hinsdale, Massachusetts. She married (int.) 19 Jan. 1796, Daniel Brown,
who was born about 1776; at Hebron, Connecticut.; and died at Stoningham,
Massachusetts on 18 December, 1826. (He was the son of David Brown of Hebron,
and his wife Lydia Swetland.) Their youngest child was Sherman.

*45. Sherman Brown, was born at Hinsdale, Massachusetts (Berkshire
County). 16 May, 1818. He died at Vacaville, California on 22 Dec. 1898.
He married on 29 Dec., 1841. Lucena Lester Warren. Lucena was born 9 Aug.
1818, at Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Massachusetts; and died on April
19, 1887, at Binghampton, California. (She was the daughter of of Ezra
Warren, Jr. and Mary "Polly" Lester.)

*46. Daniel Gilbert Brown, was born at Hinsdale, Massachusetts on 16
March, 1847; and died at Klamath Falls, Oregon, 3 July, 1938. He was
married in Binghampton, California, on 17 September 1876, to Abigail Jane
Dodge, who was born 9 March, 1855, at Muscatine,. Iowa; she died at
Klamath Falls, Oregon on 25 July, 1927. (She was the daughter of Francis
B. D. Dodge and Abigail Allie Young.) Daniel and Abigail Brown's oldest son
was Gilbert Daniel.

*47. Gilbert Daniel Brown, (SS# 538-24-7380); was born at Binghampton,
(near Dixon), California on 4 April, 1878; and died in January 1967 at
Wenatchee, Washington.
Gilbert's early years were spent in California. As a teen-ager, he helped his
father move the family to a small valley in Oregon. (A letter is in my
possession that he wrote telling of the early days in the valley; learning
some winter survival tricks from the friendly Indians; and of his attempt to
get an education.)
GilbertBrown retired after 30 years with the National Forestry Service. (He
was a supervisor over several of our national forests in Oregon, Washington
and California.)
His first marriage was to Annie Jane Stockwell, (daughter of Rev. Charles
Abner Stockwell and Betsy Jane Oliver,) on 19 October, 1902. Annie Jane was
born on 10 October, 1876, at Burnett, Wisconsin; and she died on 16 November
1915, at Lakeview, Oregon. (Wife #2 was Etna Helen Maurer, born in
Aberdeen, South Dakota on 5 Oct., 1889.)
The youngest of their three children was Edith Emily.

*48. Edith Emily Brown was born May___, 1910, at Lakeview, Oregon. She
died ______ 1958 at Attleboro, Massachusetts. She married Frank Arnold
Chestnut, (SS# 571-10-0874); .born October 30, 1905 in Cranston, Rhode
Island. Died February 1974 at Providence (Johnston), Rhode Island. Frank
and Edith's only child was Frank Daniel.

*49. Frank Daniel Chestnut, was born on 14 July, 1936 at Valhalla (Township
of Mount Pleasant), New York. Married Ila Deloris Kasinger on March 27,
1961, at Springfield, Missouri. She was born at Twin Falls, Idaho on May 11,
1938. (Deloris's parents were Ben Allen Kasinger, born March 27, 1905; died
_September___, 1986; and Una Ola Allen, born March 27, 1917; died June
10, 1989; both were born in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Ila Deloris was the
eldest of 12 children.)
Frank Daniel and Ila Deloris had three sons.

*50. (a.) Daniel Brent Chestnut, born September 27, 1962 at Springfield,
Missouri.
*50. (b.) Brian Jeffery Chestnut, born February 15, 1967 at St. Charles,
Missouri.
*50. (c.) Galen Kent Chestnut, born October 1, 1968 at St. Charles,
Missouri.

*43. Elijah Gilbert was born at Brookfield, 1 Nov. 1750, and died at Peru,
on 6 August 1829. He married at New Braintree on 14 Sept. 1775, Mary
Dunbar. who was born at Leicester, Massachusetts, about 1755,' and died at at
Peru, Mass. on 22 March 1840, aged 85, Their daughters were Sarah Gilbert and
Mary "Polly" Gilbert; (and they married the brothers -- Solomon Brown and
Daniel Brown).

44 Sarah Gilbert, born at Brookfield, or Ware, Massachusetts, on. 30 July,
1776; and died at Peru, Mass. on 24 Dec.1868, at the age of 92. She married
at Peru on 24 Nov. 1796, Solomon Brown who was born at Hebron, Connecticut, 10
July 1774, and died at Peru, Mass. on 12 August 1856, (Solomon was the son of
David Brown of Hebron. and his wife Lydia Swetland.)

45. Elijah Brown of Peru, born 13 April 1798, died at Pittsfield,
Massachusetts, on 14 December, 1868. On 23 June 1823, he married Harriet
Payn, (a descendent of Elder William Brewster of the Mayflower), born at
Peru, Mass. on 24 Jan., 1800; and died at Pittsfield, Mass. on 7 April,
1870.
46. Wesley Payn Brown, born at Peru, Mass. on 15 Oct. 1838, died at Niagra
Falls, New York on
3 May 1927. He married 7 May 1863 Harriet Ann Sackett, who was born 16
Sept. 1841, and died at Niagra Falls, New York on 22 May, 1927. Their five
children were:

(a) Lucy Mari Brown, born 1864, married Harry Morrison Clark, who died
in 1928.
(b) Jessie Marton Brown, born 1865, married Edward Blake Wyman, who died
in 1917.
(c) Etta Brown (see below)
(d) Hattie May Brown, born 1869, died 5 July 1935. (Hereditary member
of The National
Society of Magna Charta Dames.)
(e) Edith Grace Brown, born 1879, married Dr. Charles Soules
Murlless. (Edith Grace Brown
Murlless is a member of the Mass. Society of Mayflower
Descendants; the Niagra Falls Chapter
of the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution; and an Hereditary
member of the National Society of Magna Charta Dames.)

47. Etta Brown (c above) was born at Niagra Falls, New York, on 27
December, 1866. And on 17 December, 1890 she married the Hon. Frank
Alonzo Dudley, (also of royal and baronial descent); who was born at
Wilson, New York, on 30 Jan. 1864. He was the son of John Alexander Dudley
of Guilford, Conn. and Whitewater, Wisconsin, and his wife Henrietta Wright.
Mr. Dudley is a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and a life member of
the Sovereign Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent.

Mrs. Etta Brown Duddly is a member of the:
National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.-- and
Organizing Regent, 1922, of Niagra Falls Chapter, New York State Director
from 1924 to 1927, and a charter member of the New York State Officers Club,
D.A.R..
The New York and Massachusetts. Societies of Mayflower Descendants.
The National Society of Daughters of American Colonists.
A life member of the Colonial Order of the Crown.
The Sovereign Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent.
The Society of Descendents of the Knights of the Garter.
The National Society of Magna Charta Dames.
