Hi,
I abstracted BROWN names from Alabama Bureau Land Mgt records and put them in
a Windows 95-Microsoft Works 4.0 Database. The file is 706KB. Let me know
if you would like me to attach a copy of the file and send it to you with
instructions on ordering.

I purchased the CD-ROM from the General Land Office Automated Records
Project. The CD contains information from 260,000 documents that officially
recorded the transfer of public land in Alabama into private ownership.
Acknowledgements listed: BLM, Eastern States with thanks to the U.S.
Geological Survey for technical support in developing the CD. If you provide
the information from this CD to the BLM they will provide for a small fee
(less than $2.00), copies of the original grant, homestead or sales document.

I did not see direct access to the old records at that site but I might have
overlooked something.
