My Brown family research in Bedford, Penn. turned-up an old Brown - Young
pedigree chart prepared by Wm Carey Brown, b. 12-19-1859, probably in Achor,

posted to possibly help others, is as follows:

My research shows several BOOSE and YOUNG families enumerated in the same
counties of Penn. in the 1790 Federal Census (Bedford, Berks, and Lancaster
counties). Jacob Boose was in Woodberry Twp., Bedford Co. with (1,0,1,0,0). In
the same census a Baltser YOUNG appears on p. 292 in York Co. (Mixed-Berwick,
Cumberland, Franklin, Germany, Hamiltonban, Heidelberg, Mt. Pleasant,
Mountjoy,
and Straban Twps.) with (1,1,2,0,0) meaning he had a son under five and a wife
and daughter, which fits the pedigree chart). A JOSEPH BROWN appears close by
his enumeration on the same page with (1,0,2,0,0). Note that both Susannah and
William Brown on this pedigree were not born until after the 1790 census. This
Joseph Brown and Baltser Young are no longer enumerated on the 1800, 1810,
1820
or 1830 Federal Census of York Co.! In the 1800 census Baltser Young is in
Adams
Co., Penn. with (20010-2111-00), and there are two Joseph Browns in
Woodberry
Twp., Bedford Co. with (20001-41101-00) and (20010-00200-00). The first Joseph
Brown was adjacent to a John Brown (00010-10100) and the latter one was
close to
another John Brown (11101-02101). Baltser/Baltsar Young appears on Tax
Lists of
Columbiana Co., Ohio, in the years: 1807; 1808; 1809; and 1810. A Baltser
Young
appears in the 1817 Tax List and 1810 Federal Census of Woodberry Twp, Bedford
Co., Penn.. He is on the 1820 and 1830 Federal Census of that Twp. as Baltzer
Young. There are three SILL entries in between them: Peter (1,0,3,1,0);
Christian (1,0,2,0,0), and Thomas (1,1,2,0,0). The SILL family shows up in
Bedford Co. too.
