A good site for the Brownes of Ireland can be found at:

but I expect much of the genealogy dated before around 1550 are suspect, for
example this page states "John Browne, the first high sheriff of Mayo (1583).
He was of the family already at that time well established at the Neale...",
yet in a map of Mayo produced by John Browne, he states that he is the first
Englishman to settle in these parts.
