Comments: I am looking for information on George Wilhite. We know very
little. We have no documents.

The following is an oral history of George WILHITE:

Do not know place of birth, marriages, or death;

Married and divorced our great-grandmother Sophie (who was Welsh);
Married twice;

One of fourteen siblings (including boy twins possibly named "Rob" & "Ray",
who may have gone to Chicago, and a brother who emigrated to South America
and was employed in Mahogany logging);

Lost a leg working for Pennsylvania Railroad;

Owned, or managed, a coal yard in, or just outside, Philadelphia.


My grandfather's name is Daniel Burton Wilhite, Sr., and would have been the
son of George and Sophie.

Do not know the birthplace of my grandfather.

It is reported that he served in the military during WWI, but was ill in the
camp most of his duty time.

He worked in New York City and lived in Hackensack, NJ, when my father,
Daniel Burton WILHITE, Jr., was born 4/1/1925.

Thereafter, the family lived in several counties of Virginia.

Junior (my father) met and married my mother while they lived in Ashland, VA.


Senior's last enterprise in VA was the Ashland Hotel, at Rt. 54 and Number 1
Highway.

After a heart attack, he (Sr.) moved to Florida with his wife (Roma), and
son (Barry Eugene).

Junior remained in Ashland and has six children. Senior died in FL in 1952.
