(1822-1884), I have that Basil's parents were William M. Brumfield
(1790-1868) and Margaret Statham (not Harriet). Basil was one of
their nine children. The booklet says that some records show his
name as Barksdale Wade Brumfield.

That wouldn't be our William, if he died in 1868. Of course, I cannot
vouch for the accuracy of this booklet. I don't even know its author.
The above information on Basil Barksdale Brumfield was copied from the
booklet and sent to me by an Internet correspondent.
Three of Lucy Brumfield's brothers (Willis, Davis, and Isaac) married
Holmes sisters (Virginia, Cynthia, and Elizabeth, respectively).
Willis' family stayed in Washington Parish, Louisiana, while Davis
moved to Pike County, Mississippi. I don't know what happened to
Isaac's family.
