Hi Listers,
I'm new to the Bryson List and have a real problem BRYSON! I'm looking for
connections (ancestors and/or descendants) of Andrew BRYSON b abt 1810, Ohio
m Elizabeth (?) and showing up on the Wayne, Co., Indiana 1850 Census, age
41, b Ohio, wife, Elizabeth, age 35, b MD, with son Miren/Myron, age 13, b
Ohio, dau, Julia, age 8, b Ohio and son, Josiah, age 6, b Ohio.
I believe this 13 yr. old Myron is the same that m Anna NOLAN in Dixon, IL,
and served in the 6th Iowa Cavalry and had children in Davenport, Iowa, Mary,
b 22 Apr 1861 and son, John, b 26 Sep 1866 (after he had left his family).
His Civil War Pension Records (Pension sought by wife, Anna, in 1913) claim
he went "West" and was "killed by Indians". And the papers are stamped
"Abandoned".
I'm wondering if he might be the Samuel/Nelson BRYSON/BRISON that showed up
in VT, 1870, and married Marsha STONE, age 14, in Mt. Holly, VT. (He claims
his age is 28, but according to his death record he was b 1837) They
divorced in 1880 and in 1885, Manchester, VT, he m Mary Etta CLOUGH of
Stratton, VT. In 1888 they had dau, Rosa May BRYSON/BRISON in Manchester
(she m Napoleon REVETT in Dorset, VT) and Samuel died as Nelson BRYSON in
Oct, 1913 in No. Dorset, VT. The coincidences here are numerous: In the 6th
Iowa Cavalry he served with a William "Nelson" Whitman (family from VT) and
Wm's grandfather's name is "Samuel". On my grandmother's death record someone
gave her father's (my grgf's) name as "Myron". (Either my grf or my Mother)
The idea that wife (1), Anna NOLAN applied for Pension just one month before
Nelson/Samuel's death (the month he wrote his will). And just the idea that
no one in our family spoke very much about my grgf, Nelson/Samuel
