Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for your line and you are right. Some even made it to North
America, at least 130 that we know of before 1860. The earliest Bryson was
probably around 1700, another one around 1710 in Virginia, then immigration
really started. The highest numbers were in the 1840's because of the
famine. Strathclyde is an area that has had a lot of Brysons but they seem
to have moved slowly across from the Edinburgh and Berwickshire areas. 1413
is the earliest Bryson known. He was liberated from the Tower of London
(intact).
