Hi Joanna (and 'Hi' to the List),
After compiling a Family Tree,last year, for a friend whose surname is
Bryson, I became interested in the name & recently started a study of
all Bryson/Brysen/Bryceson/Brisson (etc)'s in Scotland.
Unfortunately, I haven't downloaded the IGI info for Lanarkshire (yet);
but, having already looked at the census info for quite a few Bryson
families around the rest of Scotland, I would say that a reasonably high
percentage of male Bryson's were weavers.
I'll have a specific look for 'your' Alexander Bryson & will reply to
the List.
Once I've got a good base of data for Scotland, I plan on moving
'outwards'; although I already have data on at least one family, which
emigrated to the US in the 1800's.
