Lovely September weather in Dover today, so I
stopped by Bunker Creek to check out the Bunker
Cemetery at the old garrison site. There's a
little path through the field off Bunker Lane, so
people have been down there this summer. The
graveyard is clear of brush and looks nice.

In the "History of Durham", it states "...the
oldest Bunker graves are in the field across the
highway and near the river. Here are buried James
Bunker, the emigrant, Benjamin Bunker who took
part in the siege of Louisburg, and others..." It
gives some directions giving the names of
residents in 1913, when it was written. I found
one small graveyard in the general area, right
on the road (now Route 4), but it had only a
couple stones from the Twombly family. Has anyone
seen this older Bunker graveyard recently?
