Subject: A genealogy program of some interest ...

Hi all:

Those of you on the list who are fairly PC nimble might want to take the
lifelines program for a
spin. You can refer to the following web page ...

http://lifelines.sourceforge.net/

I do not use lifelines as my principle genealogy database "keeper". Rather,
I create a gedcom file which I import into the lifelines program. Lifelines
has a rather flexible report writing capability, which I use to
generate ad hoc sorts of reports. I'm working on a report that views my
database and tells me what
individuals were *probably* in a given geographic area in 1880. It makes
doing 1880 U.S. census lookups
a much more organized activity.

Note that lifelines originated in the Unix world. If you are uncomfortable
with a program that dosn't
have the typical GUI interface, just ignore this message.

Best regards
H.A. Kippenhan, Jr.
