Audrey Elmore Bunker, 79, of 645 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, entered
into the presence of her Saviour and Lord Jesus on Tuesday, February 14,
2006, at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born in Watertown, New York,
on September 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Edgar and Ruth Elmore. A
1948 graduate of Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC, with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Bible, she worked two years with the New England Fellowship
of Evangelicals as a rural Bible teacher, teaching Bible in fifteen schools
in the state of Maine. There she met her husband, Edward J. Bunker.
Married in October of 1950, they moved to Connecticut where they resided
until 1995 when they moved to Willow Valley Manor North Retirement
Community. Her life centered on her family and her church, where she taught
Sunday School and Adult Classes, led children's activities, sang in the
choir, volunteered in the office and served the Lord she loved. Her desire
was that her life would always be a testimony of God's saving grace. She
was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary, holding many state and
local offices and placing Bibles throughout the community. She also served
as chairman of the Christian Women's Club in New London, CT. At Willow
Valley she sang in the chorale, served on several committees and
participated in many activities. She is survived by her husband, Edward J.,
of Lancaster, PA; a brother, Edgar Paul Elmore of Watertown, New York; four
daughters, Beth, wife of Francis J. Maranda, Jr. of Fairfield, Ohio; Joan,
wife of W. Brian Beachum of Apex, North Carolina; Cindy Bunker of West
Hartford, Connecticut; and Susan, wife of J. Richard Peck of Greenville,
South Carolina; five granddaughters, Abby, Anne and Maggie Maranda, and
Alyssa and Whitney Beachum. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 19, at Grace Baptist Church, 1899 Marietta Avenue,
Lancaster. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 at the church. Contributions
in memory of Mrs. Bunker may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box
366, Willow Street, PA 17584.
