Subject: Update on Laurie Bunker, 6-19-06
Friends and Family,
Below are two emails that were written by two very Dear friends. Again
I've 'copied' all of you together as time is of value in our
household.
As of today, June 19th, Laurie is continuing to gain her physical and
mental strength. With her own two hands, she is now able to enjoy a cup of
ice cream. At this point, however, the muscle tone in her legs will
literally take weeks, if not months, to allow her to be able to walk on her
own strength. We need your continued prayers for the healing of her brain
as we have concerns for Laurie's sight and memory.
God continues to heal her, but we also need your prayers for her recovery.
Your emails, phone calls, cards, and financial support, tenders my heart
and reminds me why God is so good.
Your friend, and God's Blessing to all of you,
Louie Bunker

Dear Friends and Family,
I spoke with Louie this evening to find out how he and Laurie and their
family are doing and he told me that another article was written about
Laurie in the Monroe Times:
http://www.themonroetimes.com/o0610pbu.htm
Louie also said that Laurie was released from ICU on Friday and is now in
another room within the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Louie and their
4 kids were able to see Laurie over the weekend and she acknowledged Louie
and all of their children. Louie was told by the hospital staff that
Laurie's brain is healing and now it is time for her body to heal. She has
begun Physical and Occupational therapy and she is also able to eat when
fed by others. These are all really big steps towards Laurie's recovery
and although Louie and his family realize that they have a long journey
ahead of them, they are looking forward to her welcome home party. Louie
has asked that we continue to pray for Laurie's recovery.
I'll let you know as I have further updates. Thank you for your prayers.
Patty

Good Morning!
I spoke with Louie this morning and have the following "good news" update
on Laurie:
- She came out of the coma on Friday (June 2)
- Breathing tube removed on Sunday (June 4)
- Laurie may be moved out of ICU today (June 7)
Louie said Laurie is talking, but very little at this time because of
having the breathing tube for 4-weeks and due to her need to continue
resting. A shunt has been inserted to help relieve pressure on her brain
and the hospital is still not allowing visitors (besides Louie and Laurie's
mom) because it is important that Laurie continue to rest.
The Journal-Standard has a wonderful article on Laurie's surgery and at the
end of the article are many wonderful comments from friends, family, and
caring individuals who have read her story and are praying for a full
recovery. The following is the link to the story:
http://www.journalstandard.com/articles/2006/06/07/daily_features/hometo
wn/feature01.txt
Louie is doing well and balancing his time between Laurie, the kids, and
his business. He can not thank everyone enough for their prayers and cards
during this difficult time. We all know how very passionate Louie is about
life and family. He said to me this morning before hanging up the phone,
"hug that husband of yours and kiss him like it will be your last
kiss!" I'm very excited to share with you the good news of Laurie's
recovery. Please share this update with others who know Louie and Laurie
and express your love and/or appreciation to someone special today.
