It's not for me to judge, but I asked the same question, as I wished to
start a Burnett project a few weeks ago. My feeling is that the fact that
Burnetts are already in the Barnett project might cause complications if a
new Burnett project were created. My advice would be to join the existing
project rather than create a new, nearly identical one. I do not know if
Barnett is historically linked to Burnett. Burnetts appear to have
originated in the area of Peebles in Scotland, with another branch farther
north.
There are websites devoted to the Burnett family history.
